Help me choose my next creative growth project!

Creative growth projects are essential to any artist. We do them to expand our creative boundaries and improve our skills. This subsequently creates the opportunity for future monetary gain.

With the New Year here, I find myself looking for a new project. This project will need to challenge me and expand my creative knowledge. An assignment I have never attempted or would not normally do. I have included a list of ideas below and I invite you to help me pick one.

  1. Photograph one of my grandparents extensively. Spend an entire day–or better, a week perhaps–photographing one of my grandparents. 1,000 images at least. I stole this one from a post by +ChaseJarvis. For his original post click here.

  2. Capture a powder splash photograph. Using a model, powdered pigments and lots of visqueen. Stop the motion of throwing powder on to the model as they jump or pose. This one could get a little messy but I am told it is worth it.

  3. Take a boudoir portrait. Photograph a woman in a seductive setting. Focusing on poses that complement her figure. Will probably need permission from the misses on this one.

  4. Make a video interview of myself. Write, film and edit a professional video interview about my work and creative goals. Keep it under 10 minutes in length. This one is pretty straight forward. I already have video cameras, lights and software from a previous assignment. However, doing a video about myself with myself, presents a whole new set of challenges.

  5. Do an underwater shoot. Find a pool or clear lake and photograph a model from underwater. Have the model dress in free flowing fabric to capture weightlessness. Remember to have a few people standing by for safety.

Let me know what you think. Should I start with one of these or do you have another suggestion? Leave your comments below.
