A Poster Challenge?

Sadly, working as a prepress operator, I don't get to design for clients much. I do help other designers' visions become a reality. And, there's value in that.

Though lately, Imposter Syndrome has taken hold. How do I help creatives when my skillset isn't up to par? Ture, I do work on an occasional truck wrap design. That's about it.

A poster challenge?

I've seen some designers do poster-a-day challenges. But, that doesn't work for me. I needed something less consuming. So, I kept the brief simple. Design a poster every week using millennial phrases and acronyms.

The specs: must be portrait size and fit into a standard size frame, can use Unsplash images with attribute to photographers, and high enough resolution for print if the need ever presents itself.

I also manage a few rental properties to make ends meet. Between that, a full-time prepress job, and a house remodel, time for personal design projects often gets placed on the back burner. But, as the saying goes, if you love doing it, you'll make the time.

My original goal was to keep Imposter Syndrome at bay. But, so much more has metastasized from starting this project. Not only did I reacquaint myself with design principles, typography, and color theory, I also found my true calling again, graphic design.

Honestly, I'm not sure when this project will end. It may even become perpetual. So, follow along. I'll post a new design to my Instagram profile every week. And, if you'd like to know how I created something. Ask away!
